Specialist 1:1 Mentor Mental Health (MH)
Mental health is a growing concern across the globe and affects many individuals in diverse ways, the UK is no exception, with an increase of people from all ages in the life cycle than ever, experiencing diverse forms of mental health as they try and develop, and grow in society. Mental wellbeing is something we all strive for in our daily lives. The support I provide for clients with mental health challenges are in offering bespoke support that reflects their individual needs and aspirations. To have good mental wellbeing is being able to fulfil daily living tasks. This includes your ability to study, work and to be able to express your feelings and emotions, whether they are negative or positive experiences, and in being able to form and sustain personal and social relationships.
DSA provision for 1:1 mentoring support for mental health aims to provide meaningful tailored made strategies that support the person to manage their mental health condition whilst studying at university. I support clients who live with anxiety, depression, bi-polar, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPSTD), attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia and/or a combination of mental health conditions, all of which affect individuals differently.
Often, many clients are diagnosed with combined ASC/ADHD and mental health challenges, therefore, support approach is holistic which encompasses health and wellbeing, personal, social, educational, work/practice placement, or volunteering aspirations.
I consult with individuals to ascertain their higher education needs and/or work related aspirations within a model of holistic support – under the philosophy of person-centred support, by raising conscious awareness through psychoeducation.
Clients who work with me, go on to succeed in their study, work and career ambitions.
